Why explore God's love? Because our word "love" is cheap, worn out and overused. Our common use of that word can't truly reveal all the power of God's love as revealed in Scripture. Paul the Apostle prayed with intensity that the church in Ephesus would get an amazing revelation of the love of God: "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:16-19 NIV) There is power in prayer, power in the Spirit, and power in the Scriptures to strengthen us so we can grasp the spectacular love of God. His love isn't a sentimental, greeting card kind of love. His love is fierce, tenacious, relentless, aggressive, protective, profound, eternal, jealous, persistent, and unwavering.
